Surprisingly Vegan Snacks
We have hit the 3 week mark of veganism and I, for one, can not wait to see the finish line. I am probably the most shocked of everyone that I've even made it to this point, but it hasn't been as painstaking as I had thought.
It's been a really good experience to try experimenting with new foods and new recipes, which I will definitely carry on if (or more likely when) I go back to eating animal products. However, as a busy (and skint) student its hard to always have fresh ingredients on hand, and even more difficult to find the time to prepare them.
It's been nice trying to be a bit healthier and eating more fresh stuff, but I am a snacking fiend and definitely need a fix of something other than kale. So, in times of doubt, when I don't have time to make something at home, or I'm just out and about and want something normal to eat, I have discovered there are a lot of snacks I enjoyed pre-vegan that I can still enjoy now. Here are my top accidentally vegan foods (warning: these are not healthy):
Chilli Heatwave Doritos
As much as it is a controversial issue, I think this is 100% the best flavour of Doritos. They were my go-to crisp in a meal deal, so its nice to still have a part of that (even if I can't have the BLT).
Sainsbury's Instant Chicken Noodles
I don't know how or why, but I'm going with it. Also super cheap and quick, a definite 10/10 find.
Bacon Rashers (the crisps, not actual bacon obv)
Again, don't know why but what an excellent surprise. It makes you wonder whats actually in it, but it keeps the pigs happy so I'm all for it.
Excellent addition to a cup of tea.
Chow Mein Pot Noodles
A lot of pot noodle flavours seem to be vegan, the most surprising being the Beef & Tomato flavour.
